Historic Texas Dance Halls: Exhibit, Concert, & Panel

Sunday March 24 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Lonesome Rose 2114 N St Mary’s (corner of Grayson)
Tex Pop Originals (Chris Casseb, Jeff Smith, and Michael Ann Coker) and Lonesome Rose present an Historic Texas Dance Halls Exhibit, Concert, and Panel. The photo exhibit will be based on Geronimo Trevino’s fine book “Dance Halls and Last Calls: a History of Texas Country Music.” We will also have photos loaned from the collection of Deb Fleming who has worked for years with Texas Dance Hall Preservation organization. We’re excited to have musical performances from GERONIMO TREVINO and his band as well as the TOMAN BROTHERS – 2-step dancing encouraged. Geronimo will talk about how he created his book of photos and history; some of the books will be available for sale at the event. Deb will speak about past and current efforts to keep these historic buildings from being lost forever. We’ve just confirmed that Susana Segura of Esperanza Center will give us an update on the efforts to restore the Lerma’s nightclub, famed as a significant venue for live Conjunto music. This event is guaranteed to be fun and educational. See you there!
